Congratulations to Cheyenne’s 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year, Kristin Geist!

Kristin Geist is the orchestra director at Cheyenne Middle School and has taught in Edmond Public Schools since 2006.  She currently serves as treasurer for the North Central Honors Orchestra, has led the Festival Strings of Edmond with the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras since 2008, has conducted festival orchestras in Tulsa and Norman and chaired the Oklahoma All-State Orchestra in 2011.  She is a graduate of Oklahoma City University where she earned her bachelor degree in Music Education, and she is currently pursuing her graduate degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Central Oklahoma. Mrs. Geist worked with Oklahoma City Public Schools at Classen School of Advanced Studies prior to graduating from OCU and began string programs at Nichols Hills and Sequoyah Elementary after graduation.  She then moved to Dallas, Texas where she was orchestra director at Barbara Bush Middle School in Carrolton Farmers-Branch Independent School District for four years.  She and her husband, Nick, reside in Oklahoma City with their son, Andrew, and daughter, Eleanor.
