2025 Red Dirt VotingEnds Apr. 11thRead three nominees and vote once for your favorite by April 12, 2024. By voting, you are registered to win a prize!

Fear Factor Book Review Challenge - Oct. 7 - 31st - Choose a scary book from our collection and fill out a Scary Book Review sheet. Turn the book review sheet into the library staff by the start of 7th hour on Oct. 31st to be entered to win a spooky surprise. Students can enter multiple times if multiple books/book reviews are completed.

Best of Books In-Person Book FairOct. 22 – 28th – Support your school and avid readers in your family by visiting the book fair October 22 – 28th in the Cheyenne Media Center. The book fair is open from 8:10 – 2:15 PM on Tuesday – Friday (closed over the weekend), and 8:10 – Noon on Monday. Students will have an opportunity to come to the book fair with their 6th/7th-grade Literacy class or 8th-grade English class throughout the week. A portion of every purchase earns rewards for the Cheyenne library. Thank you for supporting our library!

The Nonfiction "Know-vember" 3-2-1 Challenge - Nov. 1 - 21st - Select any nonfiction book from the Cheyenne Media Center and complete the “Know-vember” 3-2-1 Challenge form. Turn it into the library staff to be entered to win a fall-tastic surprise. Students can enter multiple times if multiple nonfiction books/3-2-1 challenge forms are completed.

Kwame Alexander Signing Event - Sept. 27th - Best of Books welcomes #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Kwame Alexander, at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 27. World Read Aloud DayFeb. 7th – World Read Aloud Day is an opportunity for people all around the world to create community through storytelling.

Read Across America Day Mar. 2nd –  The National Education Association is calling America’s children, both young and old, to celebrate the joys of reading on March 2. Learn more at Read Across America.

National Library WeekApr. 6 – 12th – National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association.  It is a time to celebrate our nation’s libraries, library workers’ contributions and promote library use and support.  Tuesday, April 8 is National Library Workers Day, a day for library staff, users, administrators and Friends groups to recognize the valuable contributions made by all library workers.

D.E.A.R. DayApr. 12th – D.E.A.R. stands for “Drop Everything and Read,” a national celebration of reading designed to remind families to make reading a priority activity in their lives. On this day, families are encouraged to take at least 30 minutes to put aside all distractions and enjoy books together. What will you be reading?

Get Caught Reading MonthMay 1 – 31st – This nationwide campaign aims to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read. It is sponsored by the Association of American Publishers (AAP) and the Magazine Publishers of America (MPA).
