The 8th grade history classes learned all about the judicial system. In class on March 11th and 12th, they performed a mock trial based on the events centered around the abolitionist, John Brown, and his raid at Harpers Ferry, Virginia in 1859. Students took on the roles of judges, lawyers, defendants, witnesses, jurors, and news reporters during the trial. Students were able to learn about the historic event that centered on the abolitionist movement and were also able to learn how our court system works in the process!
