The Cheyenne academic team has been busy this month! The 6th and 7th grade team won two games at their regional meet, with Bryson Koloen, Colt Bridges, and Beckett Gunter carrying the team with a combined 350 points! The 7th and 8th grade team brought home a trophy last Saturday and are advancing to the State competition, largely due to June Frost being ON FIRE with her 250 points for the day, answering questions such as “What was Calvin Coolidge’s middle name?” All kids did great over the past two weeks and have been working hard all year! Congrats!

Because of continued isolated icy roads in parts of our district as well as slick and dangerous parking lots and sidewalks, Edmond Public Schools will move to remote learning for all schools for Thursday, February 13th. Students should refer to information sent by their school site for assignments that will need to be completed for attendance to be counted. Based on the current forecasts, we plan to be back to in-person school on Friday.

Congratulations Josiah Gilbert-Byers for winning 2nd place in the 2025 "If I Were a Mayor" Essay Contest. The Mayors Council of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Municipal League invited 8th graders throughout Oklahoma to participate in the statewide essay contest. The contest gave students a chance to creatively use cognitive, language arts, and social studies language skills to tell others what they would do as Mayor to make their city a better place to live. Josiah received a monetary prize and a certificate of recognition at the Oklahoma State Capitol on February 7, 2025, during the Annual Congress of Mayors. He and Edmond Mayor Darrell Davis then posed for photographs. #ShineYourLight

Edmond middle school teachers were tasked with nominating 7th-grade girls who exemplify strong leadership qualities. After learning more about the nominated students, the AAUW committee members then picked one girl from each middle school to honor at a reception on March 8, 2025. Because of an increasing number of student and staff absences this week, we have made the difficult decision to close school for all Edmond Public Schools for tomorrow, Friday, January 31st. Extracurricular activities will continue as scheduled.   This decision was made in advance to give our families and staff members time to prepare. We will let you know as soon as possible how this instructional time will be made up.   We look forward to seeing your students back in class on Monday morning.
